小组总结：关系副词补充何时、何地、为何，分别对应时间、地点、原因先行词。

任务二：Distinguishing relative adverbs from relative pronouns

先行词是时间、地点、原因时，关系词一定是when/where/why吗？

The gym which has a pool is new.（which 指代 gym，作主语）

The gym where I swim is new.（where 指代 gym，作地点状语）

Do you still remember the days that /which we spent together on the farm?

(that/which作spent的宾语）

Do you still remember the days when we chatted with each other all night?

(when在从句中作状语）

    时间（time, morning, day）→ when：I remember the day when I started running.(=on which)

地点（park, gym, room）→ where：This is the gym where I take yoga classes.(=in which)

原因（reason）→ why：Do you know the reason why he quit smoking?（=for which）

小组总结：关系副词在句中做时间、地点、原因状语，可转换为介词+which

任务二：Applying the rules (combing sentences)

1. I like weekends. I have time to exercise on weekends.

→I like weekends when I have time to exercise.

2. I did not perform well at school last week. The reason was my poor-quality sleep.

   →The reason why I did not perform well at school last week was my poor-quality sleep.

3. The hospital is near my home. I visited a doctor for advice on sleep problems in that hospital.

   →The hospital where I visited a doctor for advice on sleep problems is near my home.

She is looking forward to the day when (= on which) her daughter will win a gold medal at the Olympics.

4. 我们已经到了需要做出改变的地步。

We have reached a point where a change is needed.

5.  这就是他匆匆离去的原因。

This is the reason why (= for which) he left in a hurry.
