I. 简单句：只有一个主谓结构的独立分句叫简单句。除了主语和谓语，还可以有宾语，定语，状语，补语等。

在简单句中，主语和谓语可以由一个词或者短语充当，也可以由两个或两个以上的词或短语充当，组成并列的主语或并列的谓语，但是句子的主谓结构只有一个。

II. 并列句：由并列连词连接的两个或两个以上的简单句构成的句子，叫并列句。

1. They are watching TV and the others are listening to the radio.

2. I was in the classroom, but I wasn’t there to learn to write, read or even speak.

3. Andy is good at science, while his sister is absolutely hopeless.

4. He was tired, so he went to bed early.

III. 主从复合句：由一个主句和一个或一个以上的从句构成的句子叫主从复合句。
